The Economy of Majuli District agrarian agriculture along with its allied activities the principal occupation of the people of Majuli. As high as around 90 percent of the total population of the District depended their livelihood from agriculture and its allied activities. As per records of 2011 census. 80.63 percent of the total working population of the District are cultivators and agriculture workers.
The main activities of the department are to transfer the technologies from Agriculture university’s laboratory to farmer’s field to increase the production maintaining the health of environment and soil through training, awareness camp & field visit, conducting demonstration on improved technologies to increase production.
